ECEers to China

INTERNATIONAL PLACEMENT

Britny Hebert of Blenheim (left) and Sarah Boakes of Tilbury have been selected to complete their Early Childhood Education final placement in China.

Through a partnership establish by Professor Brenda Huff, the two students will have this unique international opportunity.

Huff said, “This is such a great opportunity for Chatham students in the ECE program.”

The students will be at King Sun School in China. Sun School supports the students by covering 95 percent of the associated expenses.

Sarah Boakes said, “I think going to China is a wonderful opportunity. I think, as an ECE student, this will really put us to the test, having us demonstrate how much we learned in two years. I hope the children and the teachers will discover that learning can be interactive and fun.”

The students leave on April 5 for six weeks.

DSW Lift

AN ELEVATING EXPERIENCE

Left to right: Developmental Services Worker program students Carrie Miller, Esther Guidos and Professor Kathy Hansen demonstrated new lifting equipment at St. Clair’s Thames Campus Open House on March 24.

Hundreds of future students and parents came out to the Open House to meet faculty, see labs, and meet current students and employers.

Carrie and Esther showed off the new lifting device that will help students train for the workforce. Carrie came back to school to obtain her Developmental Service Worker diploma, with plans to get into the school system.  Esther plans on working towards her Child and Youth Care diploma when she graduates from the DSW program.
