Plenty Of Pathways For St. Clair Grads

Just a few weeks ago, St. Clair signed a deal with Michigan’s Wayne State University, to allow graduates of the college’s Automotive Product Design program to have their Canadian educations qualify them for “advanced standing” admission into the Detroit school’s Engineering program.

And that was just the latest in a number of new “academic pathways” (transfer opportunities) established by St. Clair during the past year.

The college’s Board of Governors was updated about all of the available pathways in a report tabled during its November 28th meeting by the office of Vice-President Academic and Registrar Mike Silvaggi.

It noted:

St. Clair College added the following new agreements this year:

1. Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Information Communication Technology): A letter of intent has been signed with Campbellsville University for graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Information Communication Technology) degree to pursue the Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) at its Windsor Campus. (Campbellsville is a private university based in Kentucky.)

2. Cybersecurity – Automobility: A letter of intent has been signed with Campbellsville University for graduates of the Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Cybersecurity-Automobility to pursue the Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) at its Windsor Campus.

3. Data Analytics for Business: A letter of intent has been signed with Campbellsville University for graduates of the Ontario College Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics for Business, to pursue the Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MSITM) at its Windsor Campus.

4. Esports Administration and Entrepreneurship: Graduates of the Ontario College Diploma in Esports Administration and Entrepreneurship program, with an overall average of at least 70 percent or higher, may be eligible for admission to the Nipissing University Bachelor of Commerce degree. The three-year degree is comprised of 90 credits in total, with transfer credit equivalency to a maximum of 30 credits.

Graduates of the Ontario College Diploma in Esports Administration & Entrepreneurship program, with an overall average of at least 70 percent or higher, may be eligible for admission to the Nipissing University Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. The four-year Honours degree program is comprised of 120 credits in total, with transfer credit equivalency to a maximum of 45 credits.

Graduates of the Ontario College Diploma in Esports Administration and Entrepreneurship program, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher, may be eligible for admission to the Northwood University Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Science degree. The three-year degree is comprised of 63 credits in total, with transfer credit equivalency to a maximum of 32 credits. (Northwood is a private university based in Midland, Michigan.)

5. Mechanical Engineering Technology–Automotive Product Design: Graduates of the Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology–Automotive Products Design, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above, will be considered for the Honours Bachelor of Science in General Engineering-Mechanical Engineering Concentration at Wayne State University, and will receive up to 81 credits. The Honours degree can be completed with an additional 41 credits. Our students receive a special tuition rate of a Michigan resident plus ten percent.

6. Respiratory Therapy: Graduates of the Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Respiratory Therapy will be considered for the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) at the University of Michigan-Flint College of Health Sciences, Public Health and Health Sciences.  The degree can be completed with an additional 30 credits.

St. Clair College renewed the following agreements this year:

1. Business, Marketing and Accounting: Graduates of the Ontario College Diploma in Business, Marketing and Accounting, with an overall GPA of 4.0, may be considered for admission to the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program, with up to a maximum of 60 transfer credits.

Graduates of the Ontario College Diploma in Business, Marketing and Accounting, with an overall GPA of 3.0, may be considered for admission to the Honours Bachelor of Commerce program with up to a maximum of 45 transfer credits.

The in-class portion of these Nipissing University programs will be delivered at St. Clair College Main Campus. Other courses are delivered online.

2. Architectural Technology: Graduates of the Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Architectural Technology will be considered for admission to the Master of Architecture program at Boston Architectural College.

MARKETING PATHWAYS

• Several advantages have been identified and will come to the forefront of ad messaging for billboards, print ads and digital ad versions where suited.

• Additional communication opportunities to promote Pathways have been identified as follows:

– Interior hanging banners at the Student Life Centre;

– Alumni communications;

– Posted graphics on the St. Clair website;

– Graphic for the MYST.CLAIR portal;

– Traditional media;

– Social media such as testimonial videos and quick highlights;

– Blog posts;

– Online media placement with messaging integrated;

– Designated information sessions or recruitment presentations for degree pathways;

– Student pathways are included annually in the St. Clair College Admissions Handbook;

– Student pathway opportunities are part of all in-person high school presentations throughout the catchment area and the province.
