Recently, the second year Civil Engineering Technology and Construction Engineering Technician students were able to go on-site for some geotechnical testing.
There was a drill rig on campus, and the Amec Foster Wheeler company (recently purchased by The Wood Group) was performing bore-hole testing and sampling for the new Sports Park to be constructed at the southeast corner of the college’s grounds.
The students were able to see, first-hand, auger boring, SPT testing and split spoon sampling.
The site visit was coordinated by Randall Primeau of the college’s Facilities Management Department.
